Cabela's, World's Foremost OUtfitter of hunting and fishing gear has an opening for a Transportation Supervisor to work at our Distribution Center in Sidney, NE. This position will assist management in performing work necessary to properly manage Cabela's inbound and outbound international freight transportation processes. Will provide work direction to department personnel. Review and audit general ledger detail for accuracy and provide management with status of monthly expenses. This position is responsible for managing Cabela's vendors, logistics providers and internal functions pertaining to the transportation process. This position is also responsible for the supervision of the freight bill audit process, maintaining the data entry function, reporting, validating results for accuracy, and interpreting results. Ensure continuous improvement and implementation of existing and/or new reports. Provide additional support to the Logistics management team by completing other duties as needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise the daily activity and disperse workload for the transportation function of the Logistics Department for both the international inbound/outbound freight flow and the freight bill audit/payment process in accordance with established Sarbox procedures.
- Provide management with high level summary of the reporting process by monitoring and analyzing reports for accuracy.
- Interacts with internal Cabela's departments, logistics providers, and vendors as needed to facilitate Cabela's transportation processes. Perform freight cost/rate analysis for project based activities.
- Supervise the department in problem solving shipments for our customers, suppliers and internal sources.
- Delivery problem resolution.
- Authorize shipment booking and shipment pick up. Review and collect shipment documents.
- Track problem shipments.
- Expedite freight shipments.
- Report and resolve freight overage, shortage, and damage.
- Set up returns for refused shipments.
- Give freight cost estimates.
- Performs other tasks and duties as directed by management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of transportation pricing and processes.
- Enthusiastic attitude that will compliment working in a team environment.
- Strong skills in a variety of personal computer software and hardware which would include Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point.
- Ability to communicate with internal and external business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills along with written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of company products, policies and procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associates degree or equivalent plus work experience related to transportation environment preferred.
