Physician Assistant - Cardiovascular Surgery Locum Tenens Opportunity near Petersburg, VA (ASAP - Ongoing) We are actively seeking a Board-Certified Physician Assistant (PA) specializing in Cardiovascular Surgery for an exciting locum tenens opportunity near Petersburg, VA. This position is ideal for a highly skilled PA with experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, providing essential coverage due to a staffing change from full-time to PRN. This opportunity requires a PA who is comfortable supporting a surgeon in a hospital-based environment and working within a collaborative team. Position Details: Position Type: Locum Tenens, covering both inpatient and outpatient services. Start Date: ASAP - Ongoing. Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with weekend and on-call responsibilities. Call Requirements: "First call" and on-call for surgery, with a 1:5 call ratio. Weekend Requirements: Yes. Work Setting: Hospital-based, providing outpatient and inpatient coverage with 24-hour surgeon support. Average Caseload: Inpatient: 1-2 cases per day with PRN rounding. Outpatient: 3-6 patients per clinic day. Key Responsibilities: Perform critical Cardiovascular Surgery procedures including CVICU, EVH, CABG, ECMO, and VALVE surgeries. Provide care to adult and geriatric patients in a hospital-based setting. Assist in managing complex cardiovascular cases with the support of a 24-hour surgeon team. Requirements: Board Certification (NCCPA): Required. Active Virginia License: Required. Certifications: ACLS, BLS (Required). Local Candidates: Highly preferred for quick onboarding and availability. Experience with EPIC EMR is essential, as documentation will be completed using this system. Compensation and Benefits: Daily Rate: Competitive daily rate offered for 40 hours per week.
